Come as a team – staff, trustees and key community partners – to engage in an active exploration of the current “state of our state,” focusing on promising initiatives and creative partnerships that can close Michigan’s opportunity gaps in prenatal healthcare, early childhood development, K-16 education and employment/workforce development. This action-focused event will include insightful presentations, innovative thinking, deliberate networking and creative conversation all designed to lead participants to:
- Experience the “state of reality” through stories of Michiganders – urban, suburban and rural – who are grappling with the challenges of today across the social, economic and geographic spectrum.
- Understand the case for change in Michigan and be part of the release of “State of Opportunity? A Call to Action,” a special report commissioned exclusively for this convening
- Explore what this means as a grantmaker in your own community.
- Envision the action you want to take and the difference you want to make.
- Commit to take action with others in the sector to make Michigan stronger
Presented by the Council of Michigan Foundations in partnership with the CMF Public Policy Committee and funded by the Ford Foundation, the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, and The Skillman Foundation.
